John Bonifaz is co-author of The Constitution Demands It: The Case for the Impeachment of Donald Trump, and he returns to comment on the latest developments driven by the Ukraine scandal.Bonifaz, with Ron Fein and Ben Clements, run a nonprofit called Free Speech For People, and published their book on impeachment more than a year ago.
Bonifaz says they are pleased with Speaker Pelosi’s formal call for an impeachment inquiry into the unfolding Ukraine story, and the plan to move quickly to passing articles of impeachment. But he doesn’t agree with narrowing the focus just to Ukraine, he wants all viable issues pursued.
Bonifaz argues that the phone call memo does show quid pro quo, while your humble host is not so sure. We agree there is a campaign law violation in Trump’s request for Ukraine to investigate Biden, and that there has been an attempted coverup.
We also talk about Rudy Giuliani’s role in Trump’s targeting Ukraine, and possible collusion by Attorney General Barr. And we discuss actions by Democrats that will be used by Trump and allies to defend wrongdoing.
