The Shadow Factory: The NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on Americaand produced a companion TV documentary for Nova on PBS. He was set to be a witness for Thomas Drake, the NSA whistleblower who recently plead to a minor charge as the government case, under the Espionage Act, collapsed; while he could not comment in detail about Drake before his sentencing, Bamford does talk about the Obama administration’s record prosecutions of whistleblowers and supports the petition to withdraw the “transparency award” secretly given to Obama a few months ago. He offers fascinating details about the US war in Yemen, including a strike that preceded the failed “underwear bomber” plot in December, 2009.
