Oil industry expert Antonia Juhasz returns to talk about Black Tide: The Devastating Impact of the Gulf Oil Spill; your humble host rants about morality and rule of law in the killing of bin Laden; Will Durst has his own take on Obama vs. Osama. Juhasz is Director of the Energy Program at Global Exchange, and her book is a fascinating look at the world’s worst oil travesty–her narrative of the events that led to the explosion, and the efforts of BP and BO (Obama) to control information and cover up the confusion and lack of preparation by both industry and government. We talk about the damage control efforts, the limited moratorium on drilling, and how campaign cash from Big Oil has prevented any legislation to address the obvious problems from being enacted. The GOP-controlled House has just passed a bill, HR 1229 “Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act” that will enable more offshore drilling and fastrack permits–and more than 24 Democrats voted for it! Two lucky listeners will get a copy of Black Tide–listen to find out how. Lots of info at Antonia’s website.
At 35;35, PBC comments on the raid that killed bin Laden, the subsequent attempt to kill an American citizen, Anwar al-Awklaki, by a drone attack in Yemen, and Obama’s desire to hold over Robert Mueller as FBI director.
And at 53:00 we hear Will Durst’s views of the bin Laden raid.
